Projects and Voices
Thinktecture consultants regularly work with clients of various
backgrounds and sizes: from single independent contractors, small
and large ISVs and governmental organizations to some of the world's
largest companies. The following is a list of projects which have
been supported by one of our experts, Ingo Rammer, Christian Weyer,
Ralf Westphal, or Christian Nagel.
Architecture Reviews
- A European maker of hardware and software for remote collection of
sensory data wanted to make sure that their application would be scalable
and reliable enough to allow them to meet future requirements.
Thinktecture's Ingo Rammer worked with their design and development team to
ensure that this application scales up to processing tens of thousands of
meter readings in each cycle, resulting in terabytes of data each year.
- One of the world's largest research organization developed a highly secure system for
document exchange for a Fortune 500 corporation. Thinktecture's Christian Weyer
helped them to define the server-side
architecture and possible means of communication to guarantee highest availability
and scalability. One of the most important requirements was to
achieve platform-independent collaboration based on open standards.
- A European organization for skills certification redesigns their
extranet site with ASP.NET. One of our consultants helps them with
architecture, design and code reviews to ensure the necessary scalability to
integrate the exchange of data with thousands of certification institutes.
- A U.S. manufacturer of development technologies regularly invites
thinktecture consultants to review the design of future technologies – in
some cases, software that will be released no earlier than three to five
years in the future.
Proof of Concept and Project Seeding
- One of the most visited
Web sites in Austria changed its implementation from ASP to ASP.NET.
Thinktecture's Christian Nagel helped the team to kick start to .NET, and worked
on the initial
design of the solution.
- An international investment bank decided to implement a new
application using .NET technology. One of our experts helped them kick-start
their project by improving their application’s design and by providing a
framework implementation as a starting point for their developers.
- A bank which focused on Java technology wanted to try .NET on a small
project. The original project plan based on the Java technology called for a
completion date within 30 days. With a thinktecture consultant's seeding support
the project was done in 15 days with .NET technologies.
- For creating a distributed architecture with a central application
part for analyzing data in chemical engineering, a very big player in
chemical industry built on thinktecture consultant Christian Weyer's knowledge in the realm of
distributed applications architecture, design, and implementation.
- A large insurance company decided to implement prototype for a
document-based solution with .NET. A thinktecture expert helped with designing
the prototypes which contains .NET Smart Clients as well as SharePoint Server
and BizTalk Server.
- A Canadian independent consultant in the medical-services business
wanted a second opinion regarding his design. Thinktecture's Ingo Rammer
helped him compare different solutions by providing an alternative design
and prototype implementation from scratch.
- A solution provider implemented an electronic toll system with a C++/COM
solution. A thinktecture consultant helped with the design and implemented
performance critical modules.
- A solution provider implemented a Web solution for an election system.
Thinktecture's Christian Nagel helped the team to get started with the .NET
technology, and worked on the design of the solution including ASP.NET, Windows
Forms and .NET Enterprise Services.
Mentoring and Coaching
- A European independent software vendor for e-Government solutions
decided to port their application from AS/400 and Powerbuilder to .NET. A
thinktecture consultant has enabled them to improve their project's design
and get up to speed on development.
- A solution provider decided to port their large FoxPro solution with C++
components to .NET. Thinktecture's Christian Nagel gave the team a boost to
the .NET technology, and regularly verified the design process as well as helped with implementation issues.
- A European mobile communications provider decided to implement business
logic components that would be accessed by Perl, PHP, C++, Visual Basic, a CRM
package, and Java from Linux, Solaris, Windows NT and Windows 2000.
Thinktecture's Ingo Rammer helped design and implement a Web Services-based
framework to support this diverse environment.
